Occhipinti SP68 Bianco

Arianna Occhipinti SP68 Bianco, Sicily, 2018(750ml)

This is an earthy, intriguing white with aromas of pressed wild flower, orchard fruit and dried aromatic herbs. The pervasive floral scent follows through to the mineral-driven palate along with dried peach, candied nectarine zest and chopped sage.

Occhipinti is located in the Vittoria region of the southeastern coast of Sicily between the Mediterranean Sea and inland mountains. Owner, winemaker and viticulturist Arianna Occhipinti founded the estate in 2004, bottled her first commercial vintage in 2006 and today works exclusively with estate fruit.

This wine is grown on red sand soils over limestone rock, with vines averaging 15 years old on two different sites. Hand harvested and organically farmed, the fruit is hand picked, destemmed and fermented together using only natural yeast in concrete tanks with no temperature control. Maceration period is 2 weeks with skin contact. The wine is aged in concrete tanks for 8 months and finally bottled unfiltered.
